ATF or jet fuel price was hiked by Rs 1,881 per kilolitre (kl), or 3.7 percent, to Rs 48,379.63 per kl in Delhi. The reduction comes after two rounds of hikes, the last one being on November 1 by a steep 7.3 percent.

GAIL, ONGC, Lupin, Cipla and Reliance are top gainers while Asain Paints, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports and Bharti Airtel are losers in the Sensex. Aviation stocks like SpiceJet, Jet Airways and InterGlobe are down despite fuel price cut by around 3 percent.

The brokerage house says that SpiceJets best is behind us with Q1FY17 and expects scale of capacity addition in the industry as well as by SpiceJet not only to dampen yields but also lower SpiceJets utilisation levels that have been at unsustainably high levels. Moreover, fuel savings will also start to evaporate, it adds.

Earlier in August, ATF prices were reduced by 4.2 percent. It will impact all aviation companies positively as ATF forms 40 percent of operating costs. This follows five ATF price hikes till July. ATF price was hiked by 5.5 percent in July for the fifth month in a row.

if you look at current scenario, jet fuel price is already increased by 23.5% from January. So though crude sustains at current level, profitability will decrease. jet airways is already corrected from 796 to 430. SpiceJet will also correct once all retail investors get trapped. punters would sell
