NAVs slumped as markets ends lower

The downfall in the equity segment continued on account of weak market condition. The trading session ended with BSE benchmark falling 127.07 points or 0.77% at 16,292.98 and the NSE at 4,928.90 down by 36.80 points or 0.74%.

Equity funds witnessed a steep fall caused by markets downfall. The 30-share BSE index fell 2.3 percent, or 405.24 points, to close at 17,196.47, its biggest one-day fall since Feb 27. The 50-share Nifty index lost 2.5 percent, or 136.50 points, to end at 5,228.45.

Equity funds managed to post positive gains in spite of markets ending flat. The BSE benchmark rose 52.83 points or 0.3%, to close at 17,636.80. Meanwhile, the NSE benchmark went up 19.60 points or 0.37% to 5,359.35.

Equity funds ended with moderate losses for the second consecutive day due to lack of global and domestic cues. The Sensex fell 25.56 points, to close at 15857.08 and the Nifty was up just 0.30 points which ended at 4,749.95.
