The new Direct Tax Code is expected to bring in major policy changes related to corporate taxation, non-resident taxation and SEZ exemptions. Experts say that although the new code could be more stringent for individuals and for corporations and thats because the government is looking at moving away from an exemption-based regime.

The markets expectations this time have been very low going into the Budget. There has hardly been any action or any meaningful buildup before the Budget. The Nifty is stuck in the middle of a trading range. Can the Budget do something that nudges it out of their trading range, hopefully on the way up or on the way down?

On the sidelines of its demerger, Bajaj Auto let the cat out of the bag about its insurance business. It disclosed that it has given its insurance partner, Allianz the option to hike its stake in the life insurance joint venture to 74% and in the non-life insurance joint venture to 50% at a pre-determined price.
