The government has hiked freight rate by 6.3 percent for coal, 10 percent for urea, 0.8 percent for iron & steel and 2.7 percent for cement companies. However, freight rate is lowered by 1 percent for high speed diesel. The government is eyeing to rake in Rs 1.21 lakh crore in FY16 versus Rs 1.06 lakh crore in FY15.

It`s a good beginning, at least. However, rather than rolling back passenger fare hikes, the Govt. could have hiked the fares marginally and given a stiffer hike to higher classes - i.e. First, First AC, II AC, III tier AC, etc., since most of these are funded by the companies and would not have

I has won good railway contract on Friday. Govt will be floating many railway projects this year ( it is supported by rail fare hike) . ARSS has good technical expertise in this segment and will bag many of these projects in coming months. - My target for ARSS Infra is Rs 110 for the short term

Rail fare hike is a bold step . It is good for railway and the country. I do admit and admire the minister .

It was naive to try & push such a massive hike in one go. However , eventually the fare hike going ahead will be inevitable , given that fares hike were left untouched for a long time .
