As the markets closed higher, all equity and balanced schemes registered positive returns with only few losers in either category. Meanwhile debt funds too were seen delivering good performance.

The downfall in the equity segment continued on account of weak market condition. The trading session ended with BSE benchmark falling 127.07 points or 0.77% at 16,292.98 and the NSE at 4,928.90 down by 36.80 points or 0.74%.

Equity funds washed out all of yesterday's gains owing to weak markets sentiment. The BSE benchmark fell 366.53 points or 2.17%, to close at 16,546. Meanwhile, the NSE benchmark lost 114.20 points or 2.23% to 4,999.95.

The surprise rate cut of 50 bps by RBI in its monetary policy cheered equity funds on Tuesday. The BSE benchmark climbed 206.99 points or 1.21%, to close at 17,357.94. Meanwhile, the NSE benchmark touched an intraday high of 5298.20, before closing up 63.50 points at 5,289.70.

Equity funds advanced led by markets uptick in last trading session. The BSE benchmark rose 0.77%, to close at 17,332.62, helped by 23 components. The NSE benchmark climbed 50 points or 0.96% to 5,276.85.
