Reliance Communications has now informed that DoT has taken on record 800Mhz Spectrum Sharing in 7 circles of the Company and 2 circles of Reliance Telecom Limited (RTL),
wholly owned subsidiary with Reliance Jio Infocomm on April 21, 2016.

In January this year, and Reliance Jio had signed agreements for change in spectrum allotment in 800 MHz band across 9 circles from RCom to Jio, and for sharing of spectrum in 800 MHz band across 17 circles.

"The DoT is working with Defence to get 15 Mhz of spectrum in 2100 Mhz band (3G) under swap agreement. These airwaves may be put for auction in July if freed from Defence," a source told PTI.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd has informed BSE that Government had approved compensation of Rs.458.04 Crore to MTNL for surrender of 800 MHz CDMA spectrum out of which Rs. 428.95 Crore has been sanctioned for disbursal vide DOT letter dated March 28, 2016 and MTNL has received the amount in its account on March 30, 2016.

"Telecom Commission is meeting on March 28. The DoT is expecting Cabinet approval on spectrum price by mid-May and issue notice for auction in June. Taking into account various processes, spectrum auction should begin around July 15," an official source told PTI.
