Petrol Pump owners threaten strike if taxes not cut

Punjab Petroleum Dealers Association today threatened to strike on July 7 if the state did not reduce taxes on petroleum products, which it said is highest among northern states.

Tata Motors chairman Ratan Tata, in the company's annual report, said that if fuel demand grows at 20%, there will be a supply crunch and warned that it will hit car sales.

Network18 has learnt that BPCL has introduced a quota system for fuel dealers. BPCLs demand management system will work like this: smaller pumps, that sell less than 2 lakh litres a month, will get a quota of their corresponding sale in the previous year.
