NAVs slips led by weak global and local cues

Equity funds yet again ended in a red zone for the fifth consecutive session led by weak market condition. The session ended with BSE losing 77.14 points or 0.47% at 16,215.84 while NSE was down by 21.10 points which close at 4,907.80.

Equity funds advanced as markets continued with its positive rally. The BSE benchmark rose 119.27 points or 0.68%, to close at 17,597.42. Meanwhile, the NSE benchmark was up 40.60 points at 5,358.50.

The markets cheered on release of inflation data. The 26-month low January inflation data gave a fillip to rate sensitive stocks in anticipation of policy interest rate cuts from RBI. The Sensex closed at 17848.57 up 75.73 points and the Nifty ends at 5427.45 up 37.25 points.

It was a volatile session in the market! The downtrend in global markets had negatively impacted market sentiments. The Sensex was down by 82.06 point or -0.46 % and closed at 17748.69 while Nifty fell over 90.75 point or 0.57% to end at 5381.60.

Equity funds managed to register positive returns amid volatile surrounding. The market was seen in pressure due to weak Asian cues and tracking a series of downgrades in Europe by rating agency S&P. The Sensex rose 34.74 points, to close at 16,189.36 and the Nifty went up 7.9 points to 4,873.90.

Equity diversified NAVs ended positive with advance:decline ratio of 242:10 as the Indian equity benchmarks continued their uptrend for the second consecutive session - the Sensex added nearly 149 points ahead of RBI policy meet.
