Karnataka HC repeals ban on female bartenders

A Karnataka High Court order has quashed an archaic excise act that prevented women from serving liquor at pubs. It has brought the smile back on the faces of nearly 2,000 women who lost their jobs when the ban came into effect over three years ago.

The special economic zone (SEZ) battle has now reached South India. The Mangalore SEZ is threatening the livelihood of around 20,000 people. It's also threatening their way of life and that can hardly be compensated. The farmers are now fighting back.

Mixed reactions are pouring in from Bangalore after the government's plea to commuters to leave their cars behind and switch to public transport.
