A rangebound session is what describes market best today. The indices consolidated their gains to end just below the 5,000 level. The midcaps put up a struggle today and it did not help that European markets came off their highs.

The NSE Nifty holds its mornings gains and hovering around 5000 mark. Buying was seen in auto, IT, capital goods and metal stocks while FMCG stocks were trading weak. Reliance, Infosys, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and HDFC were positive contributor to the Sensex.

Indian market recovered today after a very poor performance last week. The market gained some strength today on an improved global risk sentiment and some buying in financial stocks such as top lender State Bank of India.
