Maytas lenders cheered the idea of IFCI and IL&FS in Matas' new board. However, Ajit Gulabchand, CMD, HCC said magnitude of Maytas' liabilities cannot be determined. Meanwhile, EAS Sarma, Former Secretary-Economic Affairs said he is doubtful if Maytas can execute projects and deliver on existing contracts.

Two institutional shareholders; IL&FS and IFCI have begun jostling for a position on the new Maytas board, if and when that is formed. But Suhas Tuljapurkar, Managing Partner of Legasis said there is no requirement under the law that the CLB needs to consult secured lenders or the shareholders to appoint a board.
