What's good investment now?
Chat Transcript
goje: Sir I have 20 Axis Bank @ 1150 and 20 Yes Bank @ 318. I can hold it for a year. What should I do?
Mehraboon Irani: While both of them are good, my personal favourites are IndusiND Bank,j&K Bank and ING Vysya Bank from an investment angle. Axis and Yes, being market favourites, should be used from riding the trend and learning to buy low and selling dear.
ntkekan: what is the tgt for indusind bk in this run up? thanks
Mehraboon Irani: Difficult to say in the present run. However, from an investment of one year angle, we harget price of Rs.425.
hemavl: sir too many negative news in and around the market. has the market bottomed out. ur view will lead investors like me a lot ur guidance please
Mehraboon Irani: Declne in gold imports and oil prices coming down is a great positive for India.akin Also, Dr. Manmohan Singh taking over as FM has led to lot of expectations which looking at the man`s past record, could get fulfilled to some extent atleast. Also, with the EU summit throwing out some positive news, this rally could stretch some more. In short, yes, India has become a market to be bought on declines. However, one needs to be stock specific and understand that trying to earn more than 20-25 per cent returns would be difficult. Therefore, play the trend rather than thinking for the next 2-3 years. Things need to improve on the ground before one thinks of long long term investment.
tejassmehta1981: wish to invest in Havells, Bata, Indusind bank for LT...are they good stocks?? any other stocks to look at??
Mehraboon Irani: All four are good stocks and therefore, they are well-priced. My personal favourite is IndusInd Bank where I have a target of Rs.425 in a year`s time. Bata is my next bet. Havells, though good, looks expensive and one could wait for declines. L&T is a great company but one should be using the stock more from a trading angle till the overall environment improves and investment cycle kicks off again.
nehamathur: Sir give me one small cap or mid cap idea for say 5 years timeframe.
Mehraboon Irani: Delta Corp
satshen: Sir I have Mphasis shares... your advise on the future of this company. Should I hold on to the shares
Mehraboon Irani: Honestly, I have not tracked it for the last two quarters. However, I like NIIT Technologies, Mindtree and Infinite Computers in that space, among midcaps. Of this, Mindtree has made a good move over the last few trading sessions and therefore, the other two mentioned look relatively cheap. Sorry, I couldn`t answer you on mphasis.
hemavl: sir bhel is 190 possible . at what price should one buy this scrip
Mehraboon Irani: BHEL at 210 looked very cheap to me and I had recommended the scrip since I felt the downside was limited.
nishant1757: Please advice on Renuka Sugar...Lately I am seeing good movement in this stock volume wise as well as price wise
Mehraboon Irani: Sugar sector performs well only when the demand outstrips supply by a wide margin. The sugar cycle (Oct-Sep)2012 is in favour of production outstripping demand with a surplus of around 3-4 million tonnes in the domestic market. However, one has to keep a close tab on the monsoon. If the monsoon fails to deliver, this should lead to an increase in the prices of sugar in the domestic market. Coupled with the fact that the other large market, Brazil is also expected to have lower output on account of surplus rains, sugar price can see an uptick. In the sugar space, which is beaten down significantly, if I have to pick up something then it would be Renuka Sugars!
