guest: Gaurav any strategy for trading nifty options for May Series
Gaurav Dua: We are entrying a seasonally weak month after a sharp rally. so the bias is negative for the month of May so trade accordingly.
guest: Hello Gaurav, I want to create a long term portfolio of stocks, atleast for 2-3 years. Can you please suggest some stocks/sectors which i can include? And how should i go about building this portfolio?
Gaurav Dua: Select close to 10 stocks. The large-cap/mis-cap mix could be based on your risk profile. but the ideal is to have 50% in index stocks. 30% in quality mid caps and the rest in broader market to create alpha. also do not have concentrated exposure to one particular sector. the ideal is to have 20% in banks/financials and close to 40% in other consumption driven sectors like FMCG/retail/auto etc.
guest: Hi, please suggest 2-3 midcap Quality stocks for long term investment?
Gaurav Dua: Yes Bank; ILFS Transportation and Raymond
guest: Hi, I am holding GRUH Finance, Karur Vysya Bank. Can I HOLD these for long term?
Gaurav Dua: GRUH is a quality company but trading at expensive valuations. We see scope for better upside in CanFin Homes which is witnessing strong growth in business and trades at 0.7x its book value. It can potentially give 40-50% in next 12-18 months
guest: Holding NMDC @170/- and IOB @85/-. Huge loss. Shall I stick to both or switch over to which stocks to recover loss?
Gaurav Dua: Both are decent companies but impacted by recent negative newsflow/weak results. You can hold them and look for better exit price.
guest: Holding PTC India Financial @ 19/-. What to do?
Gaurav Dua: Shift to PTC India instead. Or PFC in financial space.
sweetmunkie: Gaurav, any views on Hexaware?
Gaurav Dua: We prefer NIIT Tech and CMC in mid cap IT space. Hexaware is likely to witness weak growth in the near term.
guest: Can i short Nifty now? And what should be my positional stop loss
Gaurav Dua: 5980 could be your stop loss. but use PUT to go short rather than take neaked bet
guest: Sir I have Indian Bank @ 242 . Will it bounce back to that level ?
Gaurav Dua: second tier PSU banks are facing asset quality issues. it is better to shift to private sector banks like Yes Bank or NBFC like CanFin Homes
guest: what is your take on goodyear india ?
Gaurav Dua: Do not cover the stock
guest: Sir can I accumulate JSW energy with a long term perspective ?
Gaurav Dua: We are not positve on utility space due to sector specific issues. Only stocks where we see value is CESC and Torrent Power due to integrated business model where they have own captive consumer base.
sudhires: Hi, is HDFC Bank a good bet for the short term?
Gaurav Dua: HDFC Bank is a must in any long term portfolio. But in the immediate term we expect the upside to be limited from the current level.
romitchhabra: I have ICICI@888, HDFC@756 & SBI@1842. I can hold for a year or two. What would you suggest in these stocks and rate sensitive sectors as a whole?
Gaurav Dua: You have picked up the stocks at good levels and have a fairly decent investment horizon which is good. It would be wise to hold on to your investments
rajiv.gupta1981: Hi, what is your take on HUL can one still invest in the same for 1-2 year?
Gaurav Dua: We do not advice buying at current level even with a two year investment time frame. Investors are likely to get better entry level once the open offer is completed
guest: I hv 100 Union bank @235 & 200 spice jet@ 37. what should I do
Gaurav Dua: Hold on to Union Bank; exit Spiecejet.
gnaik81: Hello Gaurav, ihold Alok Industries 1500 @ 10.00 Do you think its worth holding or should i sell it off ?
Gaurav Dua: We prefer Raymonds over Alok (huge debt on the books)
youthindia2012: Hi Gaurav, I am wondering if Punjab & Sind bank and IOB and United bank could be bought at current levels. I am already holding about 1000-1500 Stocks of these banks at current level.
Gaurav Dua: These are all second tier PSU banks. Though valuations are attractive; we do not see immediate re-rating trigger due to asset quality issues.
guest: I HOLD 555 SHARES OF JSL WITH PRICE 62. WHAT TO DO
Gaurav Dua: Hold
guest: 1000 SHARES OF SKUMARS NATIONWIDE @9.8,WHAT IS YOUR SUGGESTION
Gaurav Dua: Troubled company better to shift to Raymond
guest: can i buy itc and cipla at current level for one year and what is the target
Gaurav Dua: Ciple yes you can add. Wait for better entry point in ITC
guest: what about unichem lab i have 1000 shares at 205 level
Gaurav Dua: Hold; apart from decent valuations it is a attractive takeover target.
guest: should i buy bata india at current levels ?
Gaurav Dua: wait for better entry point
guest: can you suggest few stocks in current volatile for long term
Gaurav Dua: Among large cap we prefer HCL Tech, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank
guest: I have 1000 shares of Kingfisher Airlines bought at around 10 per share. Please suggest what should I do with these shares.
Gaurav Dua: It is like a lottery ticket. Nothing tangible to value and estimate a fair value. You would be lucky if the promoters can revive it or else....
Gaurav Dua: go for in the money put option. stop loss is automatic in options.
romitchhabra: What is your take on Larsen & Toubro? Is it advisable to take with 1.5-2 years time frame in mind?
Gaurav Dua: yes good for long term. but accumulate at lower levels
srikumar1976: At what level we can enter in ITC, HDFC Bank ?
Gaurav Dua: ITC below 300 and HDFC around 660-665. or you could do a staggered buying over next few weeks.
guest: Hi, I am holding JM financial 3500@22, should I hold it for long term or exit?
Gaurav Dua: exit; shift to CanFin Homes or Capital First.
rajeevr89: should I buy ashok leyland at current price ?
Gaurav Dua: Yes, with longer time frame. The revival in comm vehicle segment would take some time. It is a story on potential revival in 2014 in the CV segment.
guest: bought p c jewellers @ 140 pl. advise
Gaurav Dua: we do not cover it.
Gaurav Dua: We, At Sharekhan, have advised the stocks dicussed above to our clients. and it can assumed that we have vested interest in all the stocks recommended in the Chat session.
