Chat Transcript
guest: Which is the best funds for SIP investment with 5 yr time horizon in the resp. foll. category: - Large Cap - Mid-Small Cap - Tax saving - Sectoral
Dr Renu Pothen: For a five year time horizon you can consider large cap funds .Our recommended funds in this category are ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity Fund and Franklin India Bluechip Fund.
guest: Hi, I am investing in hdfc top 200 @ 6000/- per month, icici pru equity focused bluechip @6000/- per month, reliance gold fund 1500/- @per month and hdfc mid cap 500/- per month sip. Want atleast 1 crore in 15 to 20 years is it acheivable. regards
Dr Renu Pothen: You should be able to get the required corpus with the current investment amount. Here I have assumed a rate of return of 10%.
guest: i have 200,000Inr which fund do you suggest me to Invest? and why?
Dr Renu Pothen: This suggestion can be considered if you are willing to park your money in debt funds. If you are ready to hold your investments for more than a year then you can consider income funds like Templeton India Income Builder Account/Canara Robeco Income Fund. On the other hand ,if your investment horizon is less than a year then you can go in for short term funds like PineBridge India Short Term Fund/Templeton Short Term Income Plan. On the other hand if you want to invest via the equity route then you can go in for SIPs.I will be able to suggest funds depending on your risk profile
guest: Dear mam, i want 80 lacs in 10-12 years please confirm which MF will be invested to get it & i have already investing 5k in HDFC top 200 growth fund
Dr Renu Pothen: If you require INR 80 Lakh in the next 12 years then you will have to invest INR 30,000 on a monthly basis. Here again I have arrived at this number by assuming a rate of return of 10%.Since you already have a largecap fund, you can diversify into other categories like multicaps, midcaps and sectoral funds to achieve your goal.
guest: Hi,i am investing in SBI FMCG, ICICI Pru FMCG, Reliance Banking in SIP for last one year. Can i continue the SIPs? i find that these funds have given better returns than diversified funds for 1,3,5 years. your views pls?
Dr Renu Pothen: Your portfolio seems to be concentrated in sectoral funds. I agree with you that these funds have performed well in the last few years. However for long term I suggest that you diversify into other categories as well.
guest: Pls name best fund for tax saving SIP
Dr Renu Pothen: Canara Robeco Equity Tax Saver Fund, Franklin India TaxShield and Axis Long Term Equity Fund.
vpj25: How does one place his portfolio for the next 1 year ?
Dr Renu Pothen: For the next 1 year from the fixed income side, investors can consider income funds or dynamic bond funds. As far as equity investments are concerned,I would recommend that you get in through the SIP route as markets are expected to remain range bound.
guest: Hi Renu, I am Investing Rs 1000 as SIP each in HDFC Equity, Blackrock Equity Fund from 2010 and Birla Sun Life Frontline Equity from 2011. Also I started an SIP in ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity Fund for Rs. 3000 from January this Year. Can you please advise if my fund selection is good and should I drop or add any funds. Also I wish to have a SIP in Quantum Longterm Equity or PPFAS Long Term Value Fund. Please suggest
Dr Renu Pothen: Your portfolio seems to be fine. However you only have large caps and multicaps in your portfolio. If you are an aggressive investor then I would suggest that you take some exposure into midcap funds as well. Our best bets in this space are IDFC Sterling Equity fund /SBI Emerging Business Fund.
srikumar1976: Hi, I am investing in ICICI Pru Focused Bluechip, Quantum Long Term eqty, SBI Emerging Business,HDFC Midcap Opportunities,SBI FMCG, SBI Pharma, ICICI Pru Bkg & Fin Services. Please guide me about my Portfolio? I want to invest in these for 5-6 years.
Dr Renu Pothen: You can continue with the existing portfolio.
guest: Is Gold ETF is good option in present senario to invest?
Dr Renu Pothen: Gold prices are moving in a range bound manner. As an asset allocation strategy in your portfolio you can take an exposure into this fund.
guest: i wanna start SIP in MF, i can take risk of equity, sugget the best...???
Dr Renu Pothen: You can initially start with a large cap fund like ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity Fund. After this you can get into riskier categories like midcap and sectoral funds.
guest: i am investing Rs.2000/=PM in Franklin Flexicap Groth For the last 5 yrs. shuld i continue.
Dr Renu Pothen: This is not among the top performing funds in the multicap space. You can wait for some time and then consider other better performing funds in the multicap space like IDFC PRemier Equity Fund/UTI Opportunities Fund.
