Chat Transcript

guest: How an NRI should plan for his personal goals, i.c children education, marriage, retirement etc.
Jayant Pai: Hi. It is quite similar to a local resident. Having said that, it will vary from individual to individual. It is difficult to elaborate further, on this forum. I suggest you consult a Certified Financial Planner based in India, for this purpose.
srikumar1976: Hi, I am investing in ICICI Pru Focused Bluechip, Quantum Long Term eqty, SBI Emerging Business,HDFC Midcap Opportunities,SBI FMCG, SBI Pharma, ICICI Pru Bkg & Fin Services. Please guide me about my Portfolio? I want to invest in these for 5-6 years.
Jayant Pai: Since you have a good collection of diversified equity schemes, I suggest you redeem your sector / thematic funds and re-allocate the funds among the three survivors viz. ICICI Focused Bluechip, Quantum and HDFC Mid-Cap.
guest: Hi Jayant, i have a lump sum of 15 lakhs. is it advisable to invest in lump sum of SIP? or 30-40% in Lump sum and the rest in SIP. kindly advice. thanks!
Jayant Pai: You could adopt the second approach. As a general rule, investing through the SIP mode scores over lump-sum, as it is a more disciplined form of investing and reduces the emotional element embedded in lump-sum investing.
rsatish2013: I have invested in following through SIP in the following funds from 2 yrs for a horizon of 10-15 yrs 1.Fidelity equity fund 2)Fidelity global real assets 3)DSP BR Equity fund 4)DSP BR Top 100 5)Quantum Long term equity 6)IDFC premier equ planA 7)UTI Opportunites fund 8)Canara robeco equity tax saver fund is my funds are on right track or do i need to rejig my portfolio
Jayant Pai: I think you have too many scheme. Reduce them to five schemes by redeeming both the Fidelity schemes (Now L&T)and UTI Opportunities.
guest: Hello sir, presently i am investing in the following mutual funds via SIP. ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity Fund - Gr BNP Paribas Mid Cap Fund - Gr IDFC Premier Equity Fund - Plan A - Gr ING Financial Planning Fund - Aggressive Plan - Gr Reliance Gold Savings Fund - Gr BNP Paribas Equity Fund - Gr I am looking for long term 15-20 years tenure. Pls. suggest the % returns i expect from these funds I m investing Rs 2000 in each of these funds since 6 months.
Jayant Pai: I think you have too many schemes. Reduce them to three schemes by redeeming both the BNP schemes and the ING scheme and reallocating the funds among the three survivors. At the most, you may add another good scheme such as HDFC Sensex Plus.
guest: shanu: for first time invester in mf what should i do ; i have 4000 rs!
Jayant Pai: I suggest you opt invest this amount through SIP in a good large-cap scheme such as HDFC Sensex Plus or DSP Top 100.
guest: shanu: any sip below 500rs?
Jayant Pai: There are some fund houses who offer options like Daily SIP. There they will permit SIPs below Rs. 500.
subbareddykv: Hi, i have invested in ING new freedom growth and equity from 2007 to 2012 @ rs 16000/- per year. can u please let us know the fund performance. shell i continue with same fund or do i need to move to other fund
Jayant Pai: There is no mutual fund scheme having this name. Either you have invested in a ULIP or the scheme name has changed recently.
kishen90: What is your take on recommendation of FSLRC of super regulator in India? how it can benifit mutual funds cos and other regulators?
Jayant Pai: It is too early to give any definitive answer. Also, the current provisions may be diluted considerably before they become law. Hence I would prefer to refrain from commenting.
shn786786: is ut good time for etfs?
Jayant Pai: ETFs are low-cost products which mirror the performance of a particular index or commodity. They are a good way to take exposure to a particular asset class through the Systematic Investment route. However, I cannot say whether this is a good time or not.
ms_vasant: sir i wanto invest Rs. 50,000.00 per month in Mutual funds thru SIPs for next 5 years. let me know the best portfolio funds.
Jayant Pai: You could split this amount into three large-cap and two-mid-cap schemes. A few examples are : Nifty BeES ETF, HDFC Sensex Plus, DSP Top 100, HDFC Top 200, IDFC Premier Equity and HDFC Mid Cap. Do not go beyond five schemes, as it becomes difficult to keep track of. Review your portfolio once a year.
