Biocon Q1 profit at Rs 15cr, hit by MTM loss of Rs 26 cr

Biocon has announced its Q1 FY09 results. It's consolidated net profit was at Rs 15.02 crore versus Rs 52.8 crore. The net profit was hit by MTM loss of Rs 26 crore. Its n The operating profits was at Rs 70 crore versus Rs 76.30 crore. It's OPM was at 26.5 % versus 28%. The net profit was down 71.6% at Rs 15 crore versus Rs 52.83 crore. CNBC estimated it at Rs 58 crore. Currency loss of Rs 6 crore decline in Profit on account of currency loss in Syngene ( Syngene had a difficult qtr due to operational delays. Sales on like to like basis (excluding the enzymes business which was sold off) increased by 7%. Lack of licensing income accounted for lower growth. Licensing income contributed Rs 17 crore in Q1FY09. Excluding licensing income Biopharmaceuticals business showed a 40% increase in PAT.
