Bartronics India has announced its first quarter results. The company's Q1 consolidated net profit was at Rs 23.5 crore versus Rs 20.2 crore. Its net sales were at Rs 119.5 crore versus Rs 106 crore QoQ.
Excerpts from CNBC-TV18's exclusive interview with Sudhir Rao:
Q: Could you walk us through the kind of growth that each one of your products has contributed to this surge? A: We did have a fairly strong quarter. We had a turnover of around Rs 119 crore for the quarter with a net profit of around Rs 23.5 crore. This growth mainly came in from the newer business areas that we have entered into during the last three-six months. Among them is Smart Cards, which has contributed to around Rs 40 crore out of the Rs 119 crore of topline we had. Our US operations and Singapore operations have shown a good traction. We have has a Rs 40.37 crore turnover in the US market in this quarter, which is basically the turnover of Bartronics America Inc. Bartronics Asia has reported a turnaround of around Rs 11.6 crore in the Singapore and South Asian markets. That’s how the total figure of Rs 119 crore has been achieved. Q: What sort of growth can we expect from new businesses- your Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Smart Card business and even the domestic business A: There is a possibility of achieving around Rs 500 crore as the topline for the current financial year i.e. year ending March 2009. We should be able to easily surpass the target that we have set for ourselves. For year 2009-10 we have been talking about crossing a turnover figure of around Rs 1,000 crore. Right now we have a small team, which is focused on achieving the bridge between Rs 500-1,000 crore for the next financial year. We have some government projects that we have already bagged. There are about 11 tenders or so, which are in the pipeline. Once some of these get converted into actual orders; a point at which we are going to make announcements, we will have a fairly strong visibility even on the 1,000 crore figure for 2010. Q: What is the average size of the propose orders that you are bidding for right now. If they do fructify for your business what would be the contribution coming in from them? A: If one looks at the government tenders, the applications that are used currently are for the Below the Poverty Line (BPL) Smart Card application. These realisations are much more than the realisations that we are getting from the telecom sector, the sector to which the cards are currently been sold. These cards are sold in the range of Rs 62 - 70 per card, which means that the realisations goes up by about almost 100%. So there will be a growth factor, which is associated with the higher realisation. If we bag a few of these orders we will surpass even our 2009 figures. Q: When can we expect the finalisation of these orders? A: This will keep streaming in the next 15 days and probably go on through the year. |
