VLCC to setup India’s first ‘Knowledge Center’

In keeping with its pioneering role in the Indian Wellness Industry, the country’s largest slimming, fitness and beauty brand, VLCC today announced plans to set up India’s first ‘Wellness Knowledge Center – a research library and development center dealing with obesity and related disorders. Eminent Dietician Dr. Rekha Sharma has been appointed by VLCC to spearhead the initiative. Dr Sharma is former Chief Dietician-AIIMS and Secretary & Nutrition Consultant - Diabetes Foundation India, and has joined VLCC as Senior Vice President and Head - Knowledge. Under Dr. Sharma’s direction the Knowledge Center will channelize the huge information pool that VLCC has created over the last 15 years into productive therapies and Industry learning’s. Says Ms. Vandana Luthra Founder & Mentor VLCC Group, ‘Not only will the Knowledge Centre serve as a vast information resource bank to be leveraged for the Customer’s benefit, but will also serve the greater information needs of the evolving Indian society. As awareness on Health, wellness and obesity issues increases in a Globalized Indian mindspace – so does the need for accurate and tailor made information on the subject of obesity and related diseases.’ ‘VLCC’s extensive experience across cultural contexts will serve as a boon to health practitioners across India and elsewhere in the world.’ said Dr Sharma, ‘I look forward to bringing together my own experience in the nutrition industry and VLCC’s strong brand recognition to provide effective health solutions to Indian consumers”. Rekha Sharma has been with AIIMS for the past 28 years and has had varied exposure and experience in the industry. She has been a WHO fellow and she has also had an opportunity to be a part of international organizations like the Boston Hospital USA. She has done extensive research in the field of nutrition and has many research papers and books in her name. She has also been involved with Delhi University as an examiner and IGNOU with their course formations. She has conducted and participated in several research projects and clinical trials in the field of nutrition and conducted many awareness programmes for public. Dr. Sharma has trained more than 1500 students in the field of nutrition and dietetics from different universities registered with University Grants Commission.
