Mumbai’s premier radio taxi service provider, V-Link Taxis Private Limited, has today announced the launch of ‘Meru’, a world-class metered, radio taxi service in Delhi. V-Link Taxis is an investee company of India Value Fund, a premier, India centric private equity fund. With the launch of the Meru cab service, Delhi will witness the introduction of Mumbai’s most successful and organized metered radio taxi service in the city. The initial platform to deliver the Meru service in Delhi will be the White Maruti Esteem. In April 2007, V-Link launched the premium “metered taxi” business in Mumbai. Despite the tough cab service competition in the Mumbai market, Meru cabs have received an outstanding customer response to its services in Mumbai due to its reliability and unrelenting efforts to constantly improve the service provided to its customers. The company is launching its taxi service in Delhi today and plans to introduce Meru in Bangalore by early April and subsequently in other large cities in India during this year making it the largest radio taxi operator in the country.
The buzz behind the upcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in October 2010 is in sync with the Company’s plans for scaling up its services. V-Link plans to contribute towards upgrading the transportation infrastructure of the city by providing commuters comfort, safety, high end technology, and best service during their travel across the city. He added, “Our radio taxi service will provide customers the opportunity to commute in a modern air-conditioned taxi, enabled by GPS-based dispatch technology. They can call for a taxi at 4422 4422 and the technology enabling this service locates a cab nearest to the customer and dispatches it. The customer has a 100% assurance of a tamper-proof meter and a printed receipt for each fare." He attributed the phenomenal success of the Meru brand in Mumbai to the company's untiring efforts on selecting, training and deploying the highest quality drivers. “For every 8 drivers screened Meru selects only 1, demonstrating the rigor with which we build quality service delivery.” In December 2007, the Government of Delhi issued a letter of intent to V-Link to commence its services with 200 radio taxi operations in Delhi. V-Link has satisfied all the criteria laid down by the Government.
