Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the launch of its Executive Customer Advisory Council, a dynamic group of chief information officers (CIOs) and information technology executives from a variety of market-leading global enterprises. The Council is a working body of customers established to provide guidance to Symantec's leadership and development teams regarding the company's strategic plans and enterprise services and solutions.

"The Executive Customer Advisory Council provides great insight into what our enterprise customers want, both today and in the future," said John W. Thompson, chairman and CEO of Symantec. "It gives our customers a significant voice in guiding the kind of innovation they are relying on to protect their infrastructure, information, and interactions. Together, we will work to identify and address the issues CIOs face in today's hyper-competitive marketplace."

The Council was formed to help meet the complex needs of Symantec's current customer base and to provide analysis and ongoing validation of the plans that are essential to achieving Symantec's business goals.  Council members analyze the impacts of new technologies and services and assist in identifying early opportunities for Symantec. They will also help guide the

direction of existing solutions by providing feedback that reflects the evolution of the security and availability markets and the changing realities of the customers' business environments.

In addition, the Council provides an opportunity to create meaningful and strategic partnerships between Symantec and its large enterprise customers. Council members are encouraged to pose challenging questions to the Symantec team and to expect candid, objective dialogue attuning the

company's vision toward the needs and challenges customers face.

"The Symantec Executive Customer Advisory Council gives First American an integral role in helping Symantec drive innovation and increase the value it brings to its enterprise customers," said Evan Jafa, chief technology officer, The First American Corporation. "It is an honor to collaborate with Symantec's leadership team as well as peers from global, market-leading organizations."

The Council held its first meeting in Cupertino in June and will hold its next meeting in November.  The initial meeting consisted of a diverse base of enterprise companies including AG Edwards & Sons, Banca Intesa, Chevron, The First American Corporation, Intuit, QUALCOMM, Samsung SDS, and Tata Consultancy Services.  Prior to the November meeting, Symantec will appoint two council members to serve in co-chair positions.

New Council members will be recruited for two-year terms to allow for a natural rotation of membership while maintaining sufficient stability to ensure continuity in collective knowledge and levels of contribution.
