Samsung strengthens its printer business

Digital Technology Leader, Samsung India, today announced several new initiatives to strengthen its Printer business, which has been identified by the Company as one of its growth engines in the Year 2008. Accordingly, the Company today announced the strengthening of its Printer organization as well as the launch of seven new printer models including the breakthrough Laser Printer- ML 2245 that has especially been developed for the Indian market. To give a fresh thrust to its printer business, the Company is doubling its printer sales and marketing manpower this Year and has created a new Regional structure with Regional Sales Managers responsible for growth in their regions. "To give our Enterprise business a strong fillip, we have set up a separate Corporate Sales team for our printer business as distinct from our channel sales team." states Mr. Uday Bhat, General Manager, IT Division, Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd. In addition to strengthening the Printer organization, the Company is focusing on expanding its product range and channel in order to achieve its targeted growth of over 100% in this Year. States Mr Uday Bhat, "We have adopted a multi-pronged strategy of launching new products across all customer segments, supporting the range with a strong communication concept of 'Printelligense' and strengthening our channel engagement across India. To give consumers a complete idea of our IT Product portfolio, including printers and LCD Monitors, we plan to set up 10 IT Brand Shops in this Year". To support its new Printer range, Samsung is launching a new Communication campaign in both its customer and channel communication - 'Say hello to Printelligense' that encourages customers to go for Samsung printers basis their intelligent technology, innovative design and the range across all segments for consumers to make their intelligent choice. Some of the highlights of the new range are (a) Printers with the smallest footprints to save space b) Printers with the low printing costs c) Printers with USB Direct Print & Scan functions d) Printers with Easy Paper Jam removal (e) Onsite warranty for all Samsung Printers The flagship of the new Laser Printer range is the ML 2245, which has the Drum and the Toner separate , thereby saving around 50% printing cost per page . "This India specific product will be a boon for small & medium business as it provides them a fast, reliable, feature rich Laser Printer with the lowest printing costs. This will encourage customers to go in for genuine toners for the best print quality rather than look at alternatives." With a print speed of 22 ppm & a high duty cycle of upto 8000 pages per month, the ML2245 is attractively priced at Rs. 6,999/-. Another entry level addition to the Samsung Laser Printer range is the ML1640, compact & stylish with premium black finish. With a print speed of 16 ppm, 8 MB internal memory & a maximum monthly duty cycle of up to 5,000 pages, the ML1640 is priced at Rs. 5,299/-. The new addition to the Samsung Colour Laser Printer range - CLP 315 and CLP 310N boast of a 360Mhz processor with print speed of 4 ppm in color and 16 ppm in black and white. Powered by a 32 MB internal memory, the CLP 315 and CLP310N (Network printer) present a powerful printing solution for today's demanding office needs. The products are priced at Rs. 11,999/- and Rs. 15,499/- respectively. The new, advanced, feature rich, Laser Multi function printers (MFP) include entry level, network & color MFP's. The entry level SCX-4300 and the network SCX-4828FN Multi function printers, best suited for Small & Medium businesses, offer 18 ppm and 28 ppm print/copy speed respectively further reinforcing the company's MFP portfolio. The SCX-4300, offers 600 x 600 dpi effective output for Print with Hi-speed USB 2.0 and an external Ethernet 10/100 Base TX and is attractively priced at Rs 8,999/-. The compact, network MFP, SCX-4828FN, offers a 1200 dpi effective output for Print & 4800 x 4800 dpi resolution for Scan, in addition to the PCL5e, PCL6 and PostScript 3 emulations. Powered with an internal memory of 128 MB and offering a unique feature of USB Direct Print & Scan, the product is priced at Rs. 24,999/-. The CLX-3175FN is a stylish, compact, colour Multi function printer that can print/copy /scan and fax with a premium black finish. It has a 2400 x 600 dpi effective output for Print & 4800 x 4800 dpi resolution. The CLX-3175FN comes with 4 ppm Colour and 16 ppm Black and White Print/Copy speed, 128 MB of memory and a 33.6 kbps Fax Modem, an ADF capacity of 15 sheets and direct USB Printing capability .The CLX-3175FN is priced at Rs. 42,499/- With the launch of seven new printer models, Samsung's printer product portfolio now has expanded to 30 products across Personal, Network, Colour Laser Printer and MFP segments, priced in the range between Rs 5299 to Rs 139,999/-. The Company now has product offerings across all customer segments and this provides customers with a wide and cost effective choice in streamlining their printing infrastructure and improving productivity. "The key driver this Year will be our increased channel engagement to reach out to all customer segments. In addition to expanding our SI and SMB Channel in all cities, the IT Brand Shop network that we will be setting up this Year, will also help us showcase our products to our customers" states Mr Bhat.
