myjobsinpune.com, the leading job portal in Pune, has reported 22% growth month on month for Q1 2008 for IT job postings allaying fears that IT sector is cutting down on fresh hires.

Companies that posted their jobs online include IBM, Honeywell and WNS among others.

According to the statistics provided by myjobsinpune.com, IT continues to retain top position with 26 per cent of job postings, compared to manufacturing/ engineering at 16 percent and sales/business development related jobs at 8 per cent.

"Despite fears of a slowdown on fresh hires by the IT sector, we continue to witness sustained growth in job postings on myjobsinpune.com. We believe that corporates are finding greater value in the focused city approach of myjobsinpune to drive down the average cost of manpower acquisition and two, the IT sector itself is looking at increased avenues for growth including Remote Infrastructure Management Services (RIMS) etc. which will need fresh hires, says Saurabh Shroff, Head Marketing, myjobsinpune.com.

"For job seekers too, the Internet has emerged as the destination of choice to search for a job of their choice. According to an industry study by Juxt Consult in 2007, 73 per cent of Internet users ranked job searches as the second most preferred activity on the net-after the use of e-mail,” added Mr Shroff.

According to a recent NASSCOM study, India is well poised to capture USD 13-15 billion of the USD 96-104 billion global opportunity for RIMS (Remote Infrastructure Management Services) by 2013. RIMS alone, according to NASSCOM, could create 325,000 to 375,000 jobs by 2013.
