LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation launches Scholarship Scheme

LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation announces 1000 scholarships for students belonging to economically weaker families in the country. This scholarship Scheme is for students pursuing higher studies in medicine, engineering, graduation in any discipline, diploma course in any field and vocational course at graduation level through government recognized colleges/institutes. Candidates who have passed class XII exam in academic year 2007-08 with at least 60% of marks and above and family income of Rs. 60,000/- and below, per annum will be eligible to apply. Mr. T.S.Vijayan Chairman of LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation while launching the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme said that “one thing that can empower our country- now reckoned as one of the intellectual capitals of the world is – Education.” Mr Vijayan hopes that this initiative of LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation will make a difference in the lives of few deserving have-nots in the country. Through this scheme, LIC GJF can contribute towards helping and reaching out to such students who are not able to pursue their higher education due to lack of financial resources. Although a small step by LIC GJF ,it will prove to be a great boon for the beneficiaries and can change the lives of many. LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation was established by LIC on 20.10.2006, and registered with Charity Commissioner under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 with the objective of promoting education, health, and advancement of other objects of general public utility.To achieve these objectives, the foundation works with human and capital resources provided by LIC. Projects range from scholarships, health initiatives, rural education programmes and providing infrastructural support in fields of education and health. The foundation has provided infrastructure support to NGOs/Schools to enhance the quality of education to the underprivileged children. The Foundation places emphasis on partnering with NGOs that have similar priorities and supplements their efforts towards a common social cause.
