The Hutch Delhi Half Marathon 2006-October 15,2006

Registrations for the Hutch Delhi Half Marathon 2006, to be run on Sunday, October 15, are filling up at a fast and furious pace and the charity drive associated with the event has zoomed into a positive upward trend. This was announced by Vivek Singh, joint Managing Director, Procam International, the promoters of the event, and Venkat Krishnan N, Director, GiveIndia, the official charity partners to the event, at a Press Meet & Greet session at Hotel Le MerIdien, the hospitality partners, on Tuesday. Prominent in their presence were N C Mathur, Director Corporate and International Marketing, Jindal Stainless, the associate sponsors, Nafisa Ali Sodhi, lending her support to the charity initiative, besides officials from the Government’s sports ministry, Sports Authority of India and Athletic Federation of India.

A personal statement from Haile Gebrselassie, the current half marathon world record holder, long distance running legend and the event’s brand ambassador was read out on the occasion by Vivek Singh, who also released the names of the first lot of elite athletes.

With less than a week left for registrations to close and a limited number of running places up for grabs, it's literally going to be a photo finish for those desirous of participating in the world's most prestigious and richest half marathon. Besides the chance to run the same path strode on by 40 of the world’s top 100 long distance runners, get inspired by sporting legends like Vijay AmritraJ, Kapil Dev and Haile Gebrselassie, the event ambassadors and hobnob with the country’s glitterati, the Hutch Delhi Half Marathon is a one-stop destination to have loads of fun on that event-filled Sunday.

With the event going live to about 130 countries through the Zee Network and terrestrial coverage via Doordarshan, the country and a majority of the world will be watching as the spirit of Delhi responds to a world event in its inimitable style. Sprint, jog, walk, either alone, with your family, with friends or office colleagues. Form your own group, think up your own whacky costumes, make your own statement, but let your spirit soar.
