Hungama Mobile represents Digital Entertainment Industry

In yet another path-breaking initiative, Hungama Mobile has been the only privileged company to represent Indian mobile VAS industry in the forthcoming Mobile World Congress 2008, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, from February 10th – February 14th 2008. As a part of the convention, Mr. Neeraj Roy, MD & CEO, Hungama will share the platform with some of the most influential people from the telecom & mobile VAS industry across the globe.  Mobile World Congress 2008 will have a huge focus on media and entertainment and being the world's largest mobile entertainment company, Hungama Mobile has an array of exclusive initiatives lined up for the convention.

 

Keeping the agenda of mobile entertainment, Hungama Mobile will participate in the MOFILM (Mobile Film Festival) initiative undertaken by the GSM Association. Hungama Mobile will be representing Indian cinema and Bollywood to this festival. MOFILM will showcase Ocher Studio and Adlabs' most awaited film of 2008, Sultan the Warrior, which is a live action animation on superstar Rajnikanth. Hungama Mobile will also feature the Bollywood multi-starrer RACE and along with this, the company will showcase the album Outrageous by Sherlyn Chopra which is a music album from the T-Series collection.

 

With over 500 companies and organizations such as Sony Pictures, Warner Music, BBC, NBC, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft, Cannes Film Festival, and Robert Redford's Sundance Film Festival, Warner Bros, News Corp expected to attend the convention, Mobile World Congress 2008 is the best platform to showcase Indian strength in mobile and entertainment. Along with these world class players, Hungama Mobile is the only Indian player to share the stage and discuss the future trends in mobile entertainment.

 

Apart from the MOFILM initiative, Mr. Neeraj Roy (MD & CEO-Hungama Mobile) will deliver a keynote address on Digital Content at the Congress. He will be the only Indian out of 22 keynote speakers to do so. Mr. Roy would be sharing the platform with the likes of Mr. John Chamber of Cisco, Mr. Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo of Nokia, Mr. Wang Jianzhou, CEO, China Mobile, Mr. Paul Jacobs of Qualcomm, Masayoshi Son of Softbank, Shin-Bae Kim of Korea's SK Telecom and Ralph de la Vega of AT&T.

 

The key objectives of the discussion will be to explore digital content opportunities for mobiles across the globe and also to explore mobile operator's digital content strategies including business models & partnership strategies. In his presentation, Mr. Roy would be covering different types of digital services available on mobile and which types are working most effectively in the mobile environment. How different types of digital content being packaged together & what are the business models that pack them up.

 

Neeraj Roy was recently voted amongst the 50 most influential people in the world of Mobile Entertainment for the 3rd successive year. He is the Vice Chairman of the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF), a global body representing the various stakeholders in the mobile entertainment ecosystem.

 

The Indian entertainment and media industry, which is currently estimated at Rs 43,700 crore, is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18 per cent over the next five years. Bollywood is one of the fastest growing entertainment industry segments and has an appeal not only for the 240 million mobile phone users in India but for markets across all continents. Indian cinema is now dubbed in over 35 languages and accounts for as much as 18% of theatrical business in markets such as UK. Indian films have made it into the top 10 charts in markets such as USA, UK, Germany, Australia, Singapore and South Africa.
