CanvasM bags 'Best Start-Up Company Award'

CanvasM, a joint venture between Tech Mahindra & Motorola Inc., has been awarded the Best Start-Up Company at the Mobile Content Awards '08 held in London. This award was announced by Vision Gain, UK based telecom research and publishing company at London. As one of the finalists in the Best Start-up category, CanvasM was chosen from a list of over 150 entries in various categories from companies across the globe. The Mobile Content Conference & Awards is a prestigious event where representatives of the wireless industry from application providers to manufacturers to operators from around the world meet to discuss current trends and future prospects of mobile content and value added services. This year's event had key players from the telecommunications industry attending including Orange, O2, Vodafone UK, Telecom Italia and Nokia-Siemens Networks. The judging panel for the awards comprised of representatives from the companies above as well. On receiving the award Mr. Jagdish Mitra, CEO, Canvas M said, "For a startup there are a multitude of challenges, the foremost being the one wherein we have to chose the right direction. When the industry recognizes you it's a validation of the organization's roadmap". The jury was most impressed by Canvas M's focus on providing end – to-end services in areas of both consumer and enterprise VAS including it's special focus on enabling off- portal consumer content. Other award winners include notable names like Garmin for 'Best Handset Application', Buongiorno for 'Best Advertising/ Marketing Service Campaign' and Bytemobile for 'Best Award for Enriching Search & Discovery'.
