Century Pulp and Paper (CPP), a company prospering under the able leadership of Shri B K Birla has awarded Aker Solutions an EPC contract for a Chlorine Dioxide Plant in Lalkua, Uttarakhand State, India. This is the first project captured by the EPC group of Aker Powergas Pvt Ltd., in the current financial year. Plant completion is scheduled for Q4 of 2009.

The project will be executed by Aker Solutions as a co-operation between Aker Chemetics of Vancouver and Aker Powergas of Mumbai. It will feature Aker Chemetics’ own integrated chlorine dioxide process technology.

The contract, to be completed in 16 months, was signed in New Delhi on April 22, 2008.

Aker Powergas is proud to be a part of on going expansion program of Century Pulp and Paper as the plant features latest technology and complies to new environmental regulations in India.

‘It was a challenge to obtain this order against some stiff competition, having recently executed a similar project in India; the task force is well positioned to deliver this project in time,’ said Mr. Pardeep Dang, Associate Director-EPC Projects.

‘The Century Pulp and Paper contract provides an opportunity for Aker Chemetics and Aker Powergas to build upon our previous and successful collaboration on recent papers project. This is an example of two Aker Solutions companies working together to synergize on the strengths and capabilities of each other to win new business, and we look forward to even more successful projects with Aker Powergas in the future’, says Andrew Barr – Manager, Business Development and Technology.
