The Ad Club of Bombay's 40-year-old Abby Awards, 2007 ushered in the richest harvest of 3,130 entries across 26 sub-categories. At the awards night in Mumbai on March 3, altogether 40 ad agencies vied for India 's premier creative ad awards, up from 32 last year. This year, there's been an overwhelming response from Pakistan with 93 entries, leaving behind 60 from across LoC last year. Moreover, since the last few years, the Abbys have been open to four SAARC countries- Pakistan , Sri Lanka , Bangladesh and Nepal .
Among the Production Houses who walked away with credible laurels was Red Ice films who bagged three awards in the Abby. Red Ice's Sujit Sircar, won a Gold in the Film Craft for direction for Thunder Bird. The production house also won a silver in the Single Ad film category for creative execellence in advertising for Automotive & Accessories.
For Shoojit Sircar this is again past revisited. He has won quite a few Abbys in his seven year long career as one of India's ace directors. His work has also featured in Shots and other international advertising jounals.Sujit's first Feature film "Yahaan" bagged a Special Jury Award in the inaugural Indian Competition Section, at the 7th Osian's-Cinefan Film Festival in New Delhi last year.
The general mood at Red Ice was upbeat after the yearly announcements. On being asked how he feels about his production house being adjudged as one of the top two in the country, Gary Grewal, the man behind Red Ice Films said," We feel honoured that our work has been appreciated and the prestigious AAA of I have conferred upon us this honour. We will definitely strive to achieve greater heights next year."
