Welspun bags CNBC’s International Trade Award

Welspun India Ltd., part of the $ 1 billion group, Asia’s largest and the world’s 4^th largest terry towel producer, has been awarded the Outstanding Textile Exporter of the year 2006-07 by CNBC TV 18’s International Trade Awards.

Mr. Rajesh R. Mandawewala, Joint Managing Director of Welspun said, “With presence in a cross-section of segments – ranging from Fashion, Departmental, Specialty stores and catering to designer brands like Ralph Lauren, Nautica, Polo and Sheridan to name a few, Welspun is well on its way to be one of the largest player in the home textiles category in the world. With a distribution network spread across 32 countries, 94% of Welspun’s total revenue comes from exports. The company experienced an increase of over 60% in its export this year and has emerged as the 8^th largest Home Textiles company in the US market (Source: Home Textiles Today, US). Recently, Welspun India acquired Christy, the 150 year-old, numero uno Towel brand in the U.K and exclusive supplier to Wimbledon, U.K.
