In a fitting tribute to the 60th year of Indian Independence, Titan Industries today announced the launch of the “Titan Heritage Collection”, a unique range of watches inspired by India’s rich architectural heritage. Renowned musical maestros Taufiq Qureshi and Rahul Sharma unveiled the collection along with Mr. Bhaskar Bhat, Managing Director, Titan Industries Limited. The design of every watch in the collection emerges from unique stories told by the monuments of India. The Collection has 9 distinct styles, each with an individual story that beautifully captures an aspect of an architectural inspiration and renders it into a form. It engages deeply with the ancient and medieval traditions of Indian architecture, yet interprets its heritage with modern sophistication. Award winning designer Abhijit Bansod is the designer of the collection. Mandala is inspired from the fundamental building block of Hindu temple architecture. Stambha recreates the stone texture of the cosmic pillars, which are said to join heaven and earth. The magnificent chariot wheel of the Sun temple in Orissa is the inspiration for the Konark watch. A stunning example of fusion was the combination of Mughal and Rajput architecture in Jharokha, which lined the façade of royal palaces and buildings. Lakshmi Vilas Palace depicts the harmony of turrets, domes, arches and columns in palatial splendor. Taj - the best example of the confluence of cultures, is inspired by one of the wonders of the world. The white marble, the delicate floral inlay, the splendors of Mughal architecture find expression in the mother of pearl dial and strap of this exquisite watch. Jantar Mantar pays tribute to the architecture of time. The Heritage collection also includes watches that pay tribute to the rich tapestry of Indian myths and stories, which have been a source of inspiration for Indian architecture over the ages. The site of the legendary war between the Kauravas and Pandavas inspires the Kurukshetra watch. Ajanta uses the painted narratives of the Jataka tales, which covers the walls and pillars of the monolithic Ajanta and Ellora caves. Speaking at the launch, Mr. Bhaskar Bhat, Managing Director, Titan Industries Limited, said, “With increasing pride in Indians about our country, we felt the time was right to offer our consumers a collection that paid tribute to India’s rich heritage.
