Punj Lloyd, an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) specialist, today announced that it has been awarded a Rs 1005 crores (USD 251.25 Million) contract by GVK Power (Govindwal Sahib) Limited, Hyderabad to work on the 2 X 270 MW Govindwal Sahib Coal Fired Thermal Power Project in Taran Taran District, Punjab. The scope of the project involves the Balance of Plant work (BOP) and entire Civil work on EPC basis. Work on the project is expected to be completed by mid 2011.

This is another prestigious order won by the company after the Rs 823 crore project from Rajasthan Vidhyut Utapadan Nigam Ltd, Jaipur for building up of 2x250 MW Chhabra Thermal Power Station, Rajasthan on EPC basis.

Speaking on the achievement, Mr V K Kaushik, Managing Director, Punj Lloyd Ltd. said, “With immense opportunities in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) space, it is a privilege for us to be working on this thermal power project. Continuing our expansion in high-growth areas, we believe that this project will play a vital role in strengthening our expertise.”

Setting up of this plant will go a long way in improving the power situation of Punjab besides contributing to its economic development.

With this, the order backlog for the Punj Lloyd Group on consolidated basis has gone up to Rs 21,249.63 crore. This is the total value of unexecuted orders as of March 31, 2008 and new orders received till date.
