Patni Computer Systems (BSE: PATNI COMPUT, NSE: PATNI, NYSE: PTI), a leading global IT services provider, today announced that its first-of-its-kind SAP ERP implementation for Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan (SSGMS) has been recognised as the ‘Best IT Implementation 2008’ in the ‘Most Innovative’ category by PCQuest magazine. This implementation at the second largest pilgrimage destination in Western India was featured amongst thirteen finalists chosen after a rigorous evaluation process of an onsite review, a detailed panel discussion and assessment by an esteemed jury. Commenting on the occasion, Raghunath Mahalingam, Sr. Vice-President, Enterprise Application Services, Patni said, “This is the first time that a temple trust in India has used SAP ERP as a technology differentiator. This innovative use of SAP ERP backed up by our software competencies and change management program has helped Sant Gajanan Maharaj Temple Trust to improve operational efficiency and bring transparency in financial reporting. We are delighted that the implementation has been awarded the ‘Most Innovative IT implementation of the year’ and we hope that this recognition paves the way for other non-profit organizations to leverage ERP for greater results.” Although Indian temple trusts are waking up to the benefits of modernisation, SSGMS has harnessed the benefits of technology at a highly strategic level with this SAP ERP deployment in the larger interest of all its stakeholders. The Sansthan collaborated with Patni to implement the SAP ERP solution, in order to streamline its various functions including automation of the trust’s donation collection, accounting and inventory management processes. Considering the diverse scope of the trust’s work including temple services, pharmacy stores, health clinics, on-campus lodging and boarding, publications and schools, the requirements of the Trust were rather unique. Coupled with an extensive change management exercise facilitated by Patni, the implementation has enabled seamless knowledge transfer and has improved the staff’s ability to handle large volumes of transactions. Expressing his opinion on Patni winning the award, Anil Chopra, Editor of the magazine, said “The PC Quest Best IT Implementation awards are aimed at identifying IT implementations that are truly a class apart from others. The ERP deployment at Shri Gajanan Sansthan is one such example of innovation, which other religious institutions in the country can follow to bring in greater transparency and build in more trust amidst their followers.” Incepted five years ago, PCQuest’s ‘Best IT Implementation Award’ honours innovative Indian IT implementations with the maximum business impact to companies. The PCQuest ‘Best IT implementation 2008’ jury comprised eminent personalities including Prasanto K Roy, President (ICT Publishing), Cyber Media; Vinnie Mehta, Executive Director, MAIT; Akhilesh Tuteja, Executive Director, KPMG; Dr. G.D. Gautama, Principal Secretary of Dept. of Micro, Small Scale Enterprises and Textiles, Govt of West Bengal; Sunil Rawlani, CIO, HDFC Standard Life Insurance; and Shyam Malhotra, Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief, Cyber Media.
