NDTV announces NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards

Coming on top of an extremely successful award ceremony last year, NDTV Profit has announced the second distinguished NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards 2007 to be held this year in Delhi on July 27.  These awards not only honour business organizations that have shown exceptional ability in business performance but are also a recognition of the business houses which have fuelled the Indian economy to currently being among the fastest growing economies in the world.

The Award ceremony will be a high powered event with the crème de la crème of corporate India attending it and will be graced by Honourable Union Finance Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram as Chief Guest.

What distinguishes the ‘NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards’ from most other Business awards is the stringent six stage nomination and selection process which it follows.

As a first stage, the NDTV Profit content team along with the Business Process Advisors for these awards- Grant Thornton- has decided on a wide range of 20 verticals. The basis of deciding on the verticals is to include a sufficient representation of high growth industries forming a significant part of India’s GDP. These 20 verticals cover Automobiles-2 wheelers, Automobiles-4 wheelers, Banking, Building and Construction- Real Estate, Building and Construction- Infrastructure, Business state of the year, Consumer Durables (white goods), FMCG- Foods, FMCG- Personal Healthcare, Insurance- life, Insurance- Non Life, IT- Hardware, IT- Software, Mutual Funds, Mutual Funds, Pharmaceuticals, Retail, Telecom and Travel & Tourism. This apart, three individual nominated categories have also been short listed which include ‘Business leader of the year’, ‘Global Indian of the year’ and  ‘Viewers choice Award for inspiring India’.

The second stage which involves the development of nomination parameters is created by conducting detailed research based on one financial or non financial parameter.  The short listed nominees are then ranked according to the pre decided parameters. Following this, a questionnaire is rolled out in order to validate and get additional information. The top 5–6 companies are then reviewed. A detailed collation of the data available for these companies is then developed for evaluation by the jury. The final stage is when the awardees are decided upon by a renowned jury comprising well known names in the Indian economy and Business.

Jury for the ‘NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards’ this year comprise well established names from the industry and the business world: Dr. Amit Mitra, on the Board of Directors of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), on the Board of GAIL (India) Limited, Ms. Anu Aga, Director on theThermax’s Board of Directors, Mr. N.R.
