Chennai, July 11:

TAFE Access Ltd, a subsidiary of Tractors and Farm Equipments Ltd (TAFE), which recently gave up dealership of Hyundai, on Friday became one of Tata Motors’ dealers in Chennai, under a new name, TAFE Reach.

Part of the Rs 2,300-crore Amalgamations Group, TAFE Access Ltd (TAL) is a Tata Motors dealer in Coimbatore and a Skoda dealer in Bangalore.

Sources from TAFE said the work on the showroom was still going on and the outlet would officially be opened in a week or two.

At present, Tata Motors has three dealerships in Chennai — Concorde Motors, VST Motors and Manipal Automobiles — each with two showrooms in different locations. TAFE Reach, which is the fourth dealer for Tata Motors, is located opposite VST Motors’ showroom on Anna Salai.

VST Motors began selling trucks manufactured by Tata Motors (Telco, as called earlier) from 1956 and is the first showroom for the vehicle manufacturer.

It is learnt from Hyundai Motor India that the Korean car manufacturer is on verge of announcing a new dealership in Chennai. The new dealer would be in the ‘A’ category, which indicates large size and capacity to showcase several models of Hyundai cars.
