Birla MF bets on pharma, chemical, IT stocks

In the cement & construction space, Jaiprakash Associates, Hindustan Construction Company, India Cements topped the list of sells while Nagarjuna Construction and IVRCL Infrastructure and Projects topped the list of buys. It has exited GMR Infrastructure. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds) In the banking & financial services pack, Indian Bank, Rural Electrification Corporation and Indian Overseas Bank were in the list of top sells while it exited from Centurion Bank of Punjab and Central Bank of India. However, Power Finance Corporation, Allahabad Bank and Axis Bank were in the list of top buys. In the utilities space, Power Grid Corporation of India, Reliance Infrastructure and NTPC topped the list of sells and it exited Reliance Power.(Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?) Birla Mutual Fund augmented its investments in the pharma, chemical and information technology space. In the pharmaceuticals, it bought additional shares of Ranbaxy Laboratories, Dr Reddys Laboratories and Cipla while decreased its holding from Wockhardt. In the chemicals pack, Reliance Petroleum, Tata Chemicals and Gujarat Alkalies were in the list of top buys while BOC India, GNFC and Berger Paints India were in the list of top sells. In the Information Technology sector, Satyam Computer, Tech Mahindra and Infosys Technologies topped the list of buys while Wipro, Mphasis and Megasoft were the top sells.
