Weak session for MF NAVs as mkts decline

It was a weak session for equity diversified NAVs as markets ended in negative terrain amid extreme volatility through the day as selling pressure was seen in technology, FMCG, pharma, select banking and realty stocks while buying in metal, oil & gas and auto stocks. Advance:decline ratio stood at 9:202. The Sensex closed at 13,330.51, down by 139.34 points or 1.03% and Nifty lost 9.03 points or 0.23% to settle at 4039.70.

On the sectoral front, banking, FMCG, pharma and technology funds declined while auto funds ended mixed. IT, FMCG, Bankex and Healthcare indices were down by 5.94%, 1.46%, 1.23% and 1.21%, respectively. However, Auto Index was up 1.05%.

Among the equity diversified funds, the top HSBC Emerging Markets Fund (G) up 0.31%,  Franklin Asian Equity Fund (G)  up 0.35% and  Sundaram BNP Paribas Entertainment Opportunities - Retail Plan (G) up 0.01%. The top losers were JM Contra Fund (G) down  4.04%,  Taurus Star Share  down 3.70% and JM Equity Fund (G)  down  3.42%. 

Among the tax saving funds, the top losers were  LIC MF Tax Plan (G)  down 2.94%,  Franklin India Tax Shield (G) down 2.78% and  ING Tax Saving Fund (G)  down 2.70%

Among the sector funds, the top gainers SBI Magnum Pharma Fund (G) up 0.55%,  JM Healthcare Sector Fund (G) up 0.54% and  Franklin Pharma Fund (G)  up 0.01%.  The top losers were  UTI Services Industries Fund (G)  down 3.45%,  UTI Energy Fund (G)  down 3.23% and  Reliance Diversified Power Sector Fund - Institutional Plan (G) down 2.37%.

Among the balanced funds, the top gainers were  BOB Children Fund - Gift Plan  up 0.01% and  BOB Children Fund - Study Plan  up 0.01%. The top losers  were Kotak Dynamic Asset Allocation (G)  down 3.52%, ICICI Pru Equity & Derivatives Fund - Wealth Optimiser (Regular Option) (G)  down 2.22% and BOB Balance Fund (G)  down 2.08%.
