Equity diversified NAVs ended lower with negative advance:decline ratio of 33:174 as the markets closed in red amid volatile trade. The Sensex closed down 33.70 points or 0.19% at 17339.31, and the Nifty was down 9.15 points or 0.18% at 5135.50.

Among the sector funds, banking and FMCG funds declined while auto, pharma and technology funds advanced.

Balanced and tax saving funds also finished with negative returns, adv:dec ratio of 3:32 and 8:28, respectively.

Long term debt funds also closed lower, advance:decline ratio of 22:49.

Among the equity diversified funds, the top gainer were DBS Chola Global Advantage Fund (G) up 0.68%,  Taurus Discovery Fund up 0.64% and HSBC Emerging Markets Fund (G) up 0.53%.  The only loser was Franklin India Opportunities Fund (G) down 1.16%, Sahara Infrastructure -Variable Pricing Option (G) down 1.07% and Sahara Infrastructure - Fixed Pricing Option (G) down 1.07%.

Among the tax saving funds, the top losers were  Lotus India AGILE Tax Fund (G) up 0.57%, Birla Equity Plan (G) up  0.55% and ING Tax Saving Fund (G) up 0.40%. The top losers were JM Equity Tax Saver Fund - Series I (G) down 1.47%,  Standard Chartered Tax Saver (ELSS) Fund (G) down 0.85% and Lotus India Tax Plan (G) down 0.78%.

Among the sector funds, the top gainer SBI Magnum FMCG Fund up 0.30%, Sundaram BNP Paribas Select Thematic Energy Opportunities Funds (G) up 0.22% and Birla Sun Life Buy India Fund (G) up 0.17%. The top losers were JM Basic Fund (G) down 1.38%,  ICICI Pru FMCG Fund (G) down 0.89% and Birla MNC Fund (G) down 0.87%.

Among the balanced funds, the only gainers were Principal Balanced Fund (G) up 0.15%, BOB Children Fund - Gift Plan up 0.01%. The top losers were  LIC MF Unit Linked Insurance Scheme down 0.92%, BOB Balance Fund (G)  down 0.82% and LIC MF Balanced Fund - C (G) down 0.78%.
