MF NAVs close lower as mkts decline

Equity diversified NAVs closed lower with negative advance:decline ratio of 11:204 as the markets ended in the red as selling pressure increased after Europe opened on weak note. The Sensex was down 165.27 points or 1.11% at 14777.01. It has touched an intraday high of Rs 15,130.09 and an intra day low of Rs 14,608.05. The Nifty was down 43.25 points or 0.97% at 4433.55.


On the sectoral front, auto advanced while banking, FMCG, pharma and technology funds declined. Balanced and tax saving funds also finished lower.

 

However, short term debt funds and long term debt funds finished with positive returns.

Among the equity diversified funds, the top gainers were Franklin Asian Equity Fund (G) up 0.81%, ABN AMRO Dividend Yield Fund (G) up 0.68% and Escorts High Yield Equity Plan (G) up 0.56%.  The top losers were UTI Contra Fund (G) down  1.65%, BOB Diversified Fund down 1.60% and Reliance Natural Resources Fund (G) down 1.55%. 

Among the tax saving funds, the top losers were UTI Equity Tax Savings Plan (G)  down 1.47%, Franklin India Tax Shield (G) down 1.30% and  Fidelity Tax Advantage Fund (G) down 1.17%.

Among the sector funds, the top gainers were  UTI Auto Sector Fund (G) up 0.69%,  JM Auto Sector Fund (G) up 0.55% and Sundaram BNP Paribas Select Thematic Energy Opportunities Funds (G) up 0.69%.  The top losers were JM Telecom Sector Fund (G) down 2.35%, Franklin Infotech Fund (G) down -2.12% and ICICI Pru FMCG Fund (G) down 1.90%.

Among the balanced funds, the top gainers were  HDFC Balanced Fund (G) up 0.17%, HDFC Childrens Gift Fund - Investment Plan up 0.09% and  Birla Sun Life 95 Fund (G) up 0.04%.  The top losers were Kotak Dynamic Asset Allocation (G) down 1.27%, JM Balanced Fund (G) down 1.16% and Sundaram BNP Paribas Balanced Fund (G) 1.08%.
