It seems India Inc that raked in moolah from exports in FY05, did not focus much on it in FY06. In FY06, out of the total 4507 companies listed on the BSE, nearly 709 companies gained revenues in forex earnings, while 443 companies witnessed a decline.
In comparison to FY06, FY05 had seen more number of companies gain in terms of revenue earnings from forex. In FY05, 784 companies had gained, while 352 companies saw a fall in revenue earnings.
While in FY05 nearly 32 companies saw a rise of over 1000% in revenues in forex in, FY06 saw just 28 companies.
In FY06, nearly 62 companies grew between 200-900% in forex revenues and in FY05 it was around 83 companies.
The FY06 list of companies is led by Kirloskar Ferrous. Its exports figures increased from Rs 0.05 cr in FY05 to Rs 14.89 cr in FY06. The company's EPS(TTM) and P/E [ both EPS and P/E are calculated on adjusted profit after extra-ordinary items] is at 3.77 and 10.03, respectively.
In FY05, the gain-list was topped by Emmsons International. The company is trading at a EPS(TTM) of Rs 10.66 and P/E of 2.86[ both EPS and P/E is calculated on adjusted profit after extra-ordinary items].
FY06 saw midcaps making their way in the list of gainers. Some of the known names and their increase in figures are Simplex Infrastructure, from Rs 43.34 crore in 05 to Rs 120.06 crore in 06, Ansal Properties, from Rs Rs 3.06 crore to Rs 8.39 crore, Cranes Software, from Rs 91.81 crore to Rs 141.54 crore. Frontliners like Madras Cement, Jet Airways, Hindustan Zinc,ONGC, MTNL, NDTV, HPCL, Infosys, Cipla and many more have also made to this list.
Infact, Reliance Industries has been contributing the most in terms of exports to the annual export figure given by the RBI. The provisional export figure as per RBI for FY05-06 is Rs 4,54,800 crore, with Reliance Industries contributing the most. It has contributed 6.78% to the export figure. In FY05, it had contributed about 6.68% to the total export figure of Rs 3,56,069 crore.
Reliance Industries is currently trading at a EPS(TTM) and P/E of Rs 66.78 and 17.12 respectively [ both EPS and P/E are calculated on adjusted profit after extra-ordinary items]. The other frontliners contributing to exports are Mangalore Refinery by 2.62%, Infosys Technology by 1.90% and Wipro by 1.56%.
