Portfolio Manager P.N Vijay feels that the market had gone up a good 14-15% from its lows and even the pessimists are feeling optimistic. He said that the markets require some trigger to move forward. He believes that the inflation figures would mellow down in the course of the year and this would trigger and propel the market forward.

Vijay said, “To put things in proper perspective, we have gone up about 14%-15% since the bottom we hit about a month or so ago. So we have come a long way and more and more pessimists are getting optimistic. So we have reached a water shed, almost all the bad news has got built into price domestic inflation, global recession etc. So we need something to move this forward. As the economy gets into ’08-’09 mode we would get pleasant inflation figures and that should set the stage for a long-term investors to make choice picks. So I am hoping that in May we should get about more than 4%-5% on the indices; a great time for churning portfolios.
