It was a phenomenal session for equity markets across the globe giving some excellent moves. The BSE Sensex saw an emphatic breakout celebrating Fed chief, Ben Bernanke’s rate cut of 50 bps. It was up 653.63 points or 4.17% at 16322.75.
The data collected by Moneycontrol shows that out of 2795 companies (approx) that traded on the BSE today, 286 companies have touched their 52-week high, which includes index heavyweights like Reliance Industries, State Bank of India, HDFC, Grasim Industries, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank and Reliance Energy.
Reliance Industries marketcap hit the three lakh crore figure in today’s trade and the stock has gained over 5.5% as compared to yesterday close.
Out of these 286 companies, approximately 256 companies have given return in the range of 5- 1035% since the beginning of this calendar year (Jan 02, 2007). During the same period the BSE Sensex had gained 17%. Majority of these companies have outperformed the Sensex in the above-mentioned period.
The rest 30 companies were either not listed or did not traded on the bourses.
From the above 256 companies, 11 companies have gained over 400%, the toppers in this list were Modern Dairies with 1035%, Crystal Software Solutuions 841% and Neha International 679%. Heavyweights like Reliance Energy gained by 81%, Reliance Industries by 70% and SBI by 41%.
