The first two months of 2008 have shown a very weak trend for Indian equity markets. Since, January 1, 2008 to March 5, 2008 Sensex and Nifty have given negative 18% and 20% return respectively.
During the same period sectors like consumer durable index have tumbled 36%, realty index went down 34%, power index slipped 26% and capital goods index has gone down nearly 26%.
Moneycontrol research shows that during this period 79 NSE stocks have lost over 50%.
Brabourne Enterprises, Sasken Communication Technologies, Omaxe, VLS Finance and Donear Industries have lost over 60%.
