Markets opened on promising note with gap up, as Sensex and Nifty were up 500 and 170 points respectively but they could not sustain its morning gain and ended flat at the closing bell. The markets ended off day's high on back of profit booking amid in metal, FMCG stocks. Sensex ended up 124 pts at 15750 after sliding 486 points from its day's high. Nifty ended up 14.6 points at 4754 after giving up 162 points from day's high.

CNX Midcap Index slided 2.4% from day's high, marginally up by 0.38% at the close of trade.  BSE Small-cap Index was up 0.64% in the end after slipping 1.9% from day's high. Metal, FMCG sectors were under pressure, IT Index bucked negative trend. NSE Advance Decline ends at 3:2 from 6:1 in the morning.

The moneycontrol research analysis shows that even S&P CNX Nifty stocks shows miserable fall. Stocks like PNB was among the top looser from its intraday’s high, loosing almost 10% after good opening in morning. Reliance Energy, SAIL, BHEL, DLF, Larsren, Cairn India followed the trend loosing some where around 8% to 6% in today’s intra day fall.  

ACC, Infosys, Tata Motors were among stocks which showed some resistance and ended with marginal losses of 1%.
