Realty sectors have taken second worst hit in today’s market. The Realty Index was down by 5.5%. Realty stocks are very volatile and they go down significantly in a weak market. The stocks were down with deep cuts. According to SP Tulsian, Investment Analyst, "the sector was in grip of negative sentiment with Bombay HC dismissing petitions of developers on 'Declared Forest Land' in Mumbai. Although not many listed players have land in these areas. DLF which was among the top losers has hardly 17 acres of land in Mumbai. It is the sentiment that has been negative towards the sector. He further added that the prices are seen softening in the real estate space, which is one of the reasons for stocks trading low.

Realty major have not only fallen in today’s market but have are significantly off their 52 week highs. The stocks are down anywhere between 33% to 77%. Ansal Infra was down by 77% from its 52week high. Among the other looser were DLF, HDIL, Omaxe Ltd, Prasvnath.

In today’s trade the sector lost ground significantly, stocks were down almost between 13% to 2%. Among the top laggards are Puravankara which was down by 13%, followed by Parsvnath, which was down by 10%. HDIL was the one stock which showed some resistance and was up by 2%.
