It was a complete mayhem in the markets today. Although the markets showed recovery in the morning but failed to sustain its position at the higher levels. Sensex lost more than 900 points before closing with loss of 717.43 points at 17,998.39 due to sell by FIIs.

Power stocks, which run up the most have corrected significantly. Amongst the Sensex stocks, Reliance Energy, SBI, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, NTPC, Hindalco and HDFC Bank fell 5-10%.

Amongst BSE 500, more than 20% stocks have corrected in the band of 10-18%, which includes top rank stocks like ACC (slipped nearly 17% from its intraday high), Reliance Energy (fell 14% from highs), Tata Power (dropped 13.7% from highs), SAIL (fell 11% from highs), Reliance Communications (slipped 10.7% from highs) and SBI (fell 10.5% from highs.

Banking, Capital Goods, Oil and Realty stocks saw big fall today, respective BSE Indices dropped 3-6%.
