After taking a small pause the bulls are back again and back with style. The markets opened strong and the bulls gradually took it higher making it the biggest ever gain for the Sensex closing near the high point of the day. The rise was incredible and ferrocious with Sensex adding around 900 points and Nifty up nearly 300 points. Volume has been extremely impressive on account of broad base participation by the investors.
Capital goods, power, realty, metal stocks surged. All the key BSE indices ended in green with significant gains and the market breadth was also very good.
Midcap space was looking robust with Reliance Capital up 14%, Punj Lloyd up 14%, PFC up 11%, Power Grid up 7%, Kotak Mahindra up 12%.
Capital goods index was up 8.5%, followed by metal, oil & gas and realty indices are up nearly 6%. Pressure is seen on select IT and auto pivotals.
Power stocks NTPC up 8%, Reliance Energy up 7% and Suzlon up 7%, followed by BHEL up 12%, HDFC Bank up 7% and Unitech up 9%, Reliance up 8%, L&T & ABB up 7% each and PNB is up over 8%.
HDFC, Wipro, TCS, HCL Tech, Hero Honda were among the losers on the indices.
Sensex was up 878.85 points or 4.99% at 18492.84, and the Nifty up 288.30 points or 5.56% at 5472.30.
About 2211 shares have advanced, 773 shares declined, and 69 shares are unchanged.
The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 9,135.72 up 3%.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 7,556.24 up 4%.
BSE Metal Index was up 7%; Jindal Steel, Sesa Goa, Mah Seamless, SAIL, Sterlite Ind surged.
BSE Oil & Gas Index was up 7%; Reliance, Reliance Natura, Reliance Petro, GAIL, ONGC closed higher.
The BSE FMCG Index closed at 2,128.44 up 4%.United Brewerie, United Spirits, GlaxoSmith Con, ITC, HUL closed in green.
The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 8% at 16,777.18. BHEL, Punj Lloyd, Suzlon Energy, Bharat Bijlee, Crompton Greave ended higher.
The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,452.59 up 3%. MRF, Escorts, Hind Motors, Cummins, Maruti Suzuki, Exide Industrie were among the gainers.
The BSE IT Index closed at 4,634.88 up 0.3%.Financial Tech, Satyam, I-Flex Solution, Infosys ended higher.
The BSE Bankex was up 6% at 9,563.11. Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra, Canara Bank, Yes Bank, Union Bank, HDFC Bank closed higher.
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 17642.58 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 97393.15 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 7387.67 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 122423.40 crore.
Mkts zoom: Sensex adds 900 points, Nifty up nearly 300 pts
There is no stopping for the bulls as they have got more heady and moved upwards. The bounce back has been phenomenal, Sensex is up over 850 points and Nifty has also scored over 275 points. Its is the biggest intra day gain for Sensex. Volume has been extremely impressive on account of broad base participation by the investors.
At 2:33 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 888 points at 18504, and the Nifty up 287 points at 5471.
About 2243 shares have advanced, 727 shares declined, and 83 shares are unchanged.
Power and capital goods stocks have rebounded and Suzlon is up 12% on the back of strong quarterly numbers. Reliance Energy is up over 7% and BHEL, ABB & L&T are also up nearly 7%.Realty, metal, power and capital goods stocks surged. Markets northbound: Rel Energy, L&T, ABB surge
The markets are trading near the highest point putting on more weight on account of increased buying in index pivotals. The bounce back has been phenomenal, Sensex is up over 600 points and Nifty has also scored a double century gaining over 200 points.

Market trades higher: Nifty scores a double century
The markets have gained further ground and moved higher on sustained buying in scrips across sectors.

Mkts in momentum; power, banking, stocks in focus
The markets are trading strong today on the back of heavy buying coming in banking, power, capital good and metal stocks. All the key BSE indices are in green with significant gains and the market breadth was also very good.
At 11.12 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 594.06 points or 3.37% at 18208.05, and the Nifty up 203.10 points or 3.92% at 5387.10. About 2210 shares have advanced, 774 shares declined, and 69 shares are unchanged.

Mkts open on strong note; cap good, bank stocks up
The markets opened on a very strong note today in line with its Asian peers. Capital goods, banking annd realty stocks were on fire in the early trade and the market breadth was extremely impresive.
At 9:56 am, Sensex was up 427 points at 18041 and Nifty was up 151 points at 5335. Major gainers in the early trade were Rel Comm, Rel Energy, SAIL, Power Grid, ONGC, Reliance, Satyam, Rel Petro, Suzlon, ACC, VSNL and SBI.
Asian indices were higher today after a rebound on Wall Street. Hong Kong's Hang Seng surged 2.01% or 570.76 points at 28,944.39, Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted gained 1.14% or 106.82 points at 9,467.45, Japan's Nikkei rose 0.34% or 56.44 points at 16,494.91, South Korea's Seoul Composite was up 1.22% or 23.26 points at 1,927.07 and Singapore's Straits Times advanced 0.47%or 17.02 points at 3,659.66.
US markets: The Dow gained 44.95 points, or 0.33%, to 13,566.97. The S&P 500 index rose 5.70 points, or 0.38%, to 1,506.33, and the technology-dominated Nasdaq composite Index gained 28.77 points, or 1.06%, to 2,753.93.
