Mkts end strong; Nifty above 5100, cap gds, realty up

Markets @ 2:41 pm : Mkts intact; PNB, Rel Comm, Nalco, L&T top gainers The markets are trading higher and have maintained its steady upmove since morning as realty, capital goods, oil & gas, power, banking, telecom and technology are witnessing buying interest. Market breadth is positive, 885 shares advanced while 349 shares declined on the NSE. The Sensex and Nifty still sustained above psychological levels. Midcap and small cap stocks are strong. On the global front, Asian markets ended mixed. European were trading lower. At 2:41 pm, the Sensex was up 284 points at 17,263 and the Nifty up 84 points at 5,095. Reliance Communications, L&T, Infosys, PNB and Nalco were top gainers while Satyam, Tata Motors, HUL and Dr Reddy's Labs losers. PNB surged over 5% due to good set of numbers. For FY08 net profit is at Rs 2,048 crore Vs Rs 1,540 crore. For Q4FY08, net profit stood at Rs 544 crore Vs Rs 237.7 crore while NII stood at Rs 1,517 crore Vs Rs 1,423 crore. NIM is at 3.66%, CAR at 12.96% and other income stood at Rs 537.21 crore Vs Rs 595.5 crore. Chambal Fertilisers was up nearly 2% as the company has posted consolidated net profit of Rs 237.4 crore for FY08 as against Rs 140.19 crore in previous year and net sales of Rs 3285 crore versus Rs 3005.5 crore. consolidated other income went up at Rs 79.5 crore. Exceptional gain stood at Rs 72.63 crore. Torrent Power gained nearly 3% as its Q4FY08 net profit stood at Rs 50.46 crore versus Rs 44.32 crore while total income stood at Rs 948 crore versus Rs 776.2 crore. BSE Realty and Capital Goods indices shot up over 2.6%; Power, Oil & Gas, Bankex and IT up around 1.1-1.8%. Markets @ 1:03 pm : Mkts sustain at higher level; Rel Comm, Nalco, Infy surge Markets are trading smartly and sustained its gain at higher level.The BSE capital good index has outperformed the other sectoral indices. The BSE bank, realty, Teck, power and realty indices are also trading positive with gained over 1% each. At 1.03 pm, the Sensex is up 218.12 points or 1.28% at 17196.47, and the Nifty up 69.95 points or 1.40% at 5081.70. About 1782 shares have advanced, 1081 shares declined, and 225 shares are unchanged. Top gainers on the bourses are Reliance Comm, Infosys, ICICI Bank and NALCO.
