Mkt manages to close in green: Realty, pharma up

The markets managed to close in the positive terrain with marginal gains. Nifty opened with abig bang crossed the 6000 mark but failed to susatin its position at the higher levels and slipped in red. However, it managed to claw back in green towards the close. The top gainers on the indices were Cipla, Infosys, NTPC, M&M, ICICI Bank, Sterlite Ind, Rel Energy and Unitech. Top losers on the indices were HDFC Bank, Zee Entertainment, Grasim, Bajaj Auto, Wipro and Hindalco. Fertisiser pack is also seeing buying interest. Chambal Fert, Deepak, GNFC, RCF, Oswal Chemical, Tata Chemical are trading higher. Morpepen, Apollo Tyres, Omaxe, Paramount Communication and FDC are the gainers in the midcap space. Sensex was up 57.80 points or 0.29% at 19795.87, and the Nifty up 14.70 points or 0.25% at 5954.70. About 1927 shares have advanced, 1104 shares declined, and 53 shares are unchanged. The BSE Midcap Index ended at 9,033.76 down 0.2%. The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 11,360.73 up 0.8%. The BSE Bankex was up 1%. Centurion Bank, Canara Bank, ICICI Bank, Oriental Bank, SBI moved upwards. The BSE Capital Goods Index closed flat at 20,377.24. Astra Microwave, Gammon India, Suzlon Energy, Siemens closed higher. The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,699.57 up 0.2%. Apollo Tyres, Punj Tractors, Bharat Forge, Tube Investment, Ashok Leyland closed higher. The BSE Metal Index closed was down 0.7%. Jindal Saw, Hindalco, Shree Precoated, SAIL, Tata Steel closed lower. The BSE FMCG Index closed at 2,199.59 up 0.2%. Nestle, United Spirits, HUL, Marico closed higher. BSE Oil and Gas Index closed down 1%. Petronet LNG, IOC, BPCL, ONGC, HPCL ended lower. The BSE IT Index was at 4,267.15 up 1%. Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Patni, Iflex, TCS closed higher. BSE Realty Index up over 3.5%. Phoenix Mills, DLF, Omaxe, Ansal Propertie, Puravankara Pro closed higher. The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 21806.81 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 66472.74 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 9725.48 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 98005.03 crore. Market gives up all gains: Nifty trades flat The markets have given up most of the gains with Nifty is trading flat hovering around the previous close. Sensex is trading flat even CNX Midcap has slipped in the negative terrain. The breadth is neutral, worst during the course of the day. Sensex is down nearly 300 points from day's high and Nifty is down nearly 90 points from day's high. Visa Steel down 7%, WWIL, Neyveli Lignite down 6%, JP Hydro have taken it on their chin. At 15.04 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 103.47 points or 0.52% at 19841.54, and the Nifty down 0.95 points or 0.02% at 5939.05. About 1972 shares have advanced, 1052 shares declined, and 60 shares are unchanged. Fertisiser pack is also seeing buying interest. Cues from global peers were encouraging with Asia closing higher and Europe opening in green. All the BSE key indices were trading in green led by the metal, bank, cap good and pharma sectors. Broader markets have also participated in the uptrend and smallcap index has outperformed the other indices. At 2.00 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 134.29 points or 0.68% at 19872.36, and the Nifty up 47.75 points or 0.80% at 5987.75. About 2020 shares have advanced, 1005 shares declined, and 59 shares are unchanged. Fertisiser pack is also seeing buying interest. At 11.20 am, the Sensex is up 215.34 points or 1.09% at 19953.41, and the Nifty up 64.60 points or 1.09% at 6004.60. About 2230 shares have advanced, 800 shares declined, and 54 shares are unchanged. Market breadth has been very impressive since opening today. On NSE over 950 stocks were on the advancing side and 163 stocks on the downside. Rupee was quoting at 39.48 against US dollar. Top gainers on the Nifty are Reliance Petro at Rs 233.70 up 4.63%, Sterlite Ind Rs 1,095.15 up 2.60% and VSNL at Rs 643.30 up 2.43%. Top losers on the Nifty at Grasim Rs 3,779 down 0.51%, Wipro at Rs 496.40 down 0.48% and Hindalco at Rs 198.90 down 0.33%. Most active shares on NSE are Reliance Petro at Rs 234 with 21,861,163 shares, Ispat Industries at Rs 74.20 with 37,887,870 shares and Reliance Natural at Rs 187.40 with 10,284,100 shares. Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 207.50 up 0.48%, Reliance was trading at Rs 2,936.00 up 1.14%, Infosys was trading at Rs 1,625.90 up 1.41%, ITC was trading at Rs 195.70 up 1.61% and HPCL was trading at Rs 312.80 up 0.76%. Nifty hits 6,000; Sensex back above 20K level The markets opened on very strong note today on the back of good cues from the global markets. Nifty once again breached the psychological level of 6,000 and Sensex also climbed above 20K mark in the early trade today. Asian markets were trading in green taking cues from the US markets which rallied yesterday on positive economic data. At 9:56 am, Sensex was up 296 points at 20034 and Nifty was up 65 points at 6005. Major gainers in the opening move were GAIL, RPL, Reliance Inds, SAIL, ICICI bank, HDFC bank, M&M, Unitech, Ambuja Cement and MTNL. There was heavy buying taking place in the early trade across the sectors. However, oil & gas, metal and banking stocks were in focus. Asian markets climbed today. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 1.66% 488.48 points at 29,833.93, Japan's Nikkei gained 1.50% or 234.04 points at 15,842.92, Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted advanced 0.92% or 80.18 points at 8,757.13, Singapore's Straits Times surged 1.05% or 37.55 points at 3,597.60 and South Korea's Seoul Composite shot up 1.09% or 21.03 points at 1,959.23. US markets: The Dow added 196.23 points, or 1.48%, to 13,444.96. The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 22.22 points, or 1.52%, to 1,485.01, while the Nasdaq composite index advanced 46.53 points, or 1.78%, to 2,666.36. Market cues:
