Mkt ends flat off day's low: Auto stocks outperform

The markets ended flat but were off day's low on account of buying support from select auto and capital good stocks. The broader markets underperformed the frontline benchmark indices and ended in deep red. Pharma, realty, cement, IT and oil & gas were among the top losers on the indices. On the primary market front, today's big listing made a quiet debut on the bourses and ended with 8% premium. Sensex was down 18.35 points or 0.12% at 14861.89, and the Nifty down 5.35 points or 0.12% at 4353.95. About 904 shares have advanced, 1602 shares declined, and 62 shares are unchanged. The BSE Midcap Index ended at 6,605.85 down 40 points or 0.60%. The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 7,796.02 down 60 points or 0.8%. The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 0.4% at 12,618.94. L&T, Thermax, AIA Engineering, Areva T&D, Greaves Cotton closed higher. The BSE Health Care Index was down 0.7% at 3,838.54. Ranbaxy Labs, Biocon, Orchid Chemical, Cadila Health, Lupin closed lower. The BSE Auto Index closed closed at 4,881.94 up 0.9%. Cummins, Mah and Mah, TVS Motor, Maruti Udyog, MRF ended in the green. The BSE Metal Index closed at 10,816.64 up 0.4%. Shree Precoated, Hindalco, Jindal Saw, SAIL advanced. The BSE FMCG Index lost 0.4% at 1,854.80. Bata India, Tata Tea, United Spirits, GlaxoSmith Con, Dabur India closed lower. BSE Oil and Gas Index closed lower at 7,616.99 down 0.2%. IOC, Petronet LNG, Essar Oil, Reliance Petro ended in green. The BSE IT Index lost 1% at 4,791.99. Patni Computer, Mphasis, Satyam, I-Flex Solution, Financial Tech closed weak. The BSE Bankex was up 0.4% at 7,427.55. UTI Bank, Centurion BoP, ICICI Bank, Union Bank closed higher. The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 14204.94 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 41247.62 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 6494.24 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 61946.8 crore. Mkts witness selling pressure: Power, cement stocks slip The markets continue to witness selling pressure and are trading weak. Select auto and capital stocks are providing support at the lower levels. Realty, oil & gas, power, bank, cemet and pharma are among the top underperformers. Midcaps and smallcaps have underperformed the benchmark indices and this have given an extremely negative breadth to the market. At 14.29 pm IST, the Sensex is down 63.97 points or 0.43% at 14816.27, and the Nifty down 15.90 points or 0.36% at 4343.4. About 812 shares have advanced, 1625 shares declined, and 63 shares are unchanged. Tata Steel, Tata Motors, ONGC, L&T, Maruti, HUL and M&M are among the few gainers on the indices. ACC, Rel Energy, Ranbaxy, NTPC, Satyam, Ambuja Cements and VSNL are among the top losers on the indices. DLF, Vishal Retail, UTI Bank, Indiabulls Real, and IFCI are among the most active stocks on the indices. Markets slip: Cement, realty, bank stocks down The markets are trading in red on broad based selling seen in scrips across sectors. On the primary market front, DLF had a quiet listing and it is trading at at Rs 547 up 4.3%. All the BSE indices are trading in red. Realty, oil & gas, bank, cemet and pharma are among the top underperformers. At 13.28 pm IST, the Sensex is down 90.55 points or 0.61% at 14789.69, and the Nifty down 23.40 points or 0.54% at 4335.9. About 710 shares have advanced, 1669 shares declined, and 60 shares are unchanged. Crack is sharper in the midcap and smallcap space. Advance: decline ratio is hugely in favour of declines. Midcap and smallcap index are down around 1.1%. In the midcap space top losers are Ansal Propertie, Bombay Rayon, Bombay Dyeing, Birla Corp, Peninsula Land, Anant Raj Ind. In the realty space top losers are Ansal Prop, Indiabulls Real, Sobha Developers, Peninsula Land, Mahindra Gesco. Tata Steel, Tata Motors, ONGC, L&T, Maruti, HUL and M&M are among the few gainers on the indices. ACC, Rel Energy, Ranbaxy, Satyam, Ambuja Cements and VSNL are among the top losers on the indices. DLF, Vishal Retail, UTI Bank, Indiabulls Real, and IFCI are among the most active stocks on the indices. Market trades weak: Midcap, smallcaps underperform The markets are trading in deep red on account of selling pressure in scrips across sectors. All the BSE indices are trading in red. Oil & gas, bank, cemet and pharma are among the top underperformers. Realty stocks are also down, DLF IPO failed to boost the sector. The stock is trading at Rs 547 up 4.3%. At 12.15 pm IST, the Sensex is down 113.31 points or 0.76% at 14766.93, and the Nifty down 35.90 points or 0.82% at 4323.4. About 556 shares have advanced, 1699 shares declined, and 53 shares are unchanged. In the realty space top losers are Ansal Prop, Indiabulls Real, Sobha Developers, Peninsula Land, Mahindra Gesco. ONGC, L&T, Maruti, HUL amd M&M are among the few gainers on the indices. ACC, Rel Energy, Ambuja Cements and VSNL are among the top losers on the indices. DLF, Vishal Retail, UTI Bank and IFCI are among the most active stocks on the indices. 39.2 lakh NTPC shares change hands on BSE at Rs 157.25/share. Markets dip in red: Cement, cap goods, telecom down Bulls have given up the holding to bears. Cement, real estate, telecom and capital goods stocks have dragged the market lower. At 10:27 am, the Sensex was down 10 points at 14,869 and the Nifty down 9.3 points tat 4350. DLF's listing could not hold the market on the higher side, which also impacted on other real estate stocks. Market breadth turned into negative, a 332 shares have advanced while 668 shares declined. Top losere were Ambuja Cements, Bharti Airtel, ABB, BHEL and Ranbaxy Labs whereas gainers like Larsen, HUL, ICICI Bank, Maruti Udyog and M&M. Nifty July Futures was trading at a discount of 8.5 points at 4,342. DLF, UTI Bank, NTPC, Vishal Retail and IFCI were the most active shares on the bourses. Market opens higher: FMCG, auto, banks gain Market has opened with strong note as the buying interest in the oil, FMCG, banking and auto stocks. At 9:57 am, the Sensex was up 76 points at 14,956 and the Nifty up 17 points at 4,376. The CNX Midcap surged 9.2 point at 6,044. Market breadth is positive, a 457 shares have advanced while 277 shares declined on the NSE. Reliance, HUL, ICICI Bank, SBI, Bharti, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto were among the gainers in the morning trade. ICICI Bank, India's largest private bank, touched Rs 1000 mark today. DLF, India's largest real estate development company, has listed at Rs 582 against its issue price of Rs 525 per share and hit a high of Rs 583.95 on the NSE. Asian indices were mostly higher today. Japan's Nikkei gained 0.55% or 100.11 points at 18,268.83. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.15% or 32.43 points at 22,250.98. South Korea's Seoul Composite surged 1.18% or 21.68 points at 1,860.09. Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted was up 0.21% or 18.98 points at 9,087.96. Singapore's Straits Times advanced 0.35% or 12.60 points at 3,567.45.
