Markets @ 2:01 pm Markets trading in positive terrain: ICICI Bk, SBI up The markets have gained strength and are trading in the positive terrain. At 14.01 pm IST, the Sensex is up 54.99 points or 0.41% at 13480.49, and the Nifty up 15.35 points or 0.40% at 3881.25. About 1044 shares have advanced, 1367 shares declined, and 77 shares are unchanged. Top gainers on the Sensex are ICICI Bank up 2.76%, SBI up 2.54% and Bharti Airtel up 1.59% Top gainers on the Nifty are MTNL up 6.74% and Jet Airways up 3.35%. Top losers on the Sensex are HLL down 1.67%, Reliance Energy down 0.97% and Guj Ambuja Cem down 0.74%. Top losers on the Nifty are Zee down 1.32% and ABB down 1.15%. heavyweight Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 244.20 down 1.51% from its previous close of Rs 247.95. Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,267.00 down 0.85% from its previous close of Rs 1,277.80. Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 2,209.00 down 0.03% from its previous close of Rs 2,209.75. Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 185.50 up 0.71% from its previous close of Rs 184.20. Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 306.30 down 0.18% from its previous close of Rs 306.85. Markets @ 12:41 pm Markets choppy: SBI, ICICI Bank top gainers Markets are choppy, however bank stocks continue to witness buying interest. At 12.41 pm IST, the Sensex is up 40.75 points or 0.30% at 13466.25, and the Nifty up 4.70 points or 0.12% at 3870.6. About 956 shares have advanced, 1365 shares declined, and 71 shares are unchanged. The BSE bankex has outperformed the other sectoral indices; it was up 1.96% at 6,998.82. The top gainers on the Sensex are SBI up at Rs 1,154.55 (2.47%), ICICI Bank up at Rs 876.80 (2.26%) and Bharti Airtel up at Rs 580.40 (1.83%). The top gainers on the Nifty are MTNL up at Rs 142.40 (6.59%), Jet Airways up at Rs 659.35 (4.07%) and Oriental Bank up at Rs 249.00 (3.36%). The top percentage gainers on the BSE, Infotrek Syscom up at Rs 24.95 (19.95%), Accel Frontline up at Rs 67.05 (14.91%) and Glenmark up at Rs 564.00 (10.75%). However, Guj Ambuja Cem, HLL, Reliance Energy and Zee Tele are the top losrs on the indices. Kotak Mahindra Bank was quoting at Rs 394.60, up Rs 12.15, or 3.18%. At 11.00 am IST, the Sensex is down 9.46 points or 0.07% at 13416.04, and the Nifty down 1.50 points or 0.04% at 3864.4. About 936 shares have advanced, 1035 shares declined, and 81 shares are unchanged. Markets @ 9:59 am Markets open in positive terrain; Sensex hits 13,500 The markets opened in the positive terrain after seeing a flat close yesterday. The global cues are positive with Asian markets trading higher. At 9:59 am, the Sensex was trading at 13472 up 47 points after hitting 13,500 levels and the Nifty was trading at 3879 up 13 points. Infosys, TCS, Rel Comm, MTNL, Jet Airways, SBI, ONGC, ITC were among the gainers.Dabur, HCL Tech, ICICI also opened in green. GAIL, Guj Ambuja, Grasim and HLL were among the losers. Asian stocks were mostly higher early today, Japan's Nikkei was up 0.04%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.56%, Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted surged 0.62%, South Korea's Seoul Composite advanced 0.20% and Singapore's Straits Times was flat. The Dow rose 86.13 points, or 0.71%, to close at 12,218.01; after a Federal Reserve official indicated the Fed will maintain its policy of stable interest rates. Light sweet crude oil prices slipped 30 cents to settle at USD 58.28 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Market cues:
